Summary

Ben has spent his first year of college working on his fantasy manuscript with his writing partner Mario, who is a great Spanish tutor, and an even better kisser。 So why can’t he stop thinking about the fact that Arthur’s back in town two years after they called it quits?

Arthur is in New York for a dream internship on Broadway, with a boyfriend back at home that he couldn't be happier with。 But when he comes upon Ben cuddled up with a mystery boy, he starts to wonder if his feelings for Ben ever truly went away。

Even as the boys try to focus on their futures, they can't seem to help running into each other in the present。 Is the universe forcing them to question if they’re actually meant to be?

Possibly not。 After all, things didn’t work the first time around。
Possibly yes。 After all, the sparks are still flying。
Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and raise a glass。

Here’s to celebrating old friends!
Here’s to embracing new beginnings!
Here’s to believing in second chances!

Perhaps even better than the first book in the series (which is saying a lot)。 The angst and mutual pining were so well done, yet offset with moments of spark and hope to prevent complete reader anguish。

The sequel we wanted, needed & deserved! Bloody loved it!

I take back what I said, I don’t want a second book。 It took me a month to read because I dreaded picking it up。 The characters are so immature, like grow up。 But I still liked the first one so that’s why it’s 2 stars and not 1

"Sometimes boxes are carrying goodbyes。 And sometimes they're carrying fresh starts。 Sometimes things go in storage for a bit。 You don't take them with you, but you don't throw them away either。 They're waiting for you when you get home。" All I can say is poor Mickey。 He deserves better。 "Sometimes boxes are carrying goodbyes。 And sometimes they're carrying fresh starts。 Sometimes things go in storage for a bit。 You don't take them with you, but you don't throw them away either。 They're waiting for you when you get home。" All I can say is poor Mickey。 He deserves better。 。。。more

That ending!!!Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself。 This was the perfect sequel to a fantastic LGBT+ novel。 We need more diverse books like these in the world。 I'm sure they exist, but I have yet to find them。 I'll be on the lookout, that's for sure。 I will admit, having most of the book with Arthur being with Mikey and Ben sorta with Mario, I was worried about how the authors would get these two back together。 It was bound to happen given that the perspective was both of Ben and Arthur。 I'm so gla That ending!!!Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself。 This was the perfect sequel to a fantastic LGBT+ novel。 We need more diverse books like these in the world。 I'm sure they exist, but I have yet to find them。 I'll be on the lookout, that's for sure。 I will admit, having most of the book with Arthur being with Mikey and Ben sorta with Mario, I was worried about how the authors would get these two back together。 It was bound to happen given that the perspective was both of Ben and Arthur。 I'm so glad the authors found the perfect way to have them meet-cute all over again and get back together。 This book had me going for all the feels。 With Dylan and Samantha's secret life, to the will-they-won't-they of pretty much every couple, to that OMG ENDING! (view spoiler)[ And how Ben proposed to Arthur!?! It was so cute!!! (hide spoiler)]。 I loved it from start to finish。 The only thing I didn't entirely like (and in book one, but I failed to mention that in my review of it) was that sometimes it was hard to tell who was talking。 But other than that, I don't have anything negative to say about this book。 Or the first one。 If you want to read a good love story where there isn't any doom and gloom (like most of the stories I read) this is the book for you。 I mean you could technically count breakups as doom and gloom, but I'm not in this case。 This duoligy is a breath of fresh air。 Anyone in the LGBT+ community (or anyone in general really) would enjoy these books and I highly recommend them。 。。。more

I love Ben, Arthur, and all their friends。 I’m so glad we got more about them。 I definitely need to read more books by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera。

I finished this book two days ago and I might still be crying。 This was the sweetest book, and such a perfect sequel to What If It's Us。 I didn't think a sequel to that book was needed until I read this book。 I'm going with 4。5 for a rating, because I keep bouncing back between a 4 and a 5 and I can't choose。 Here's to Us is set two years after Ben and Arthur's iconic summer in What If It's Us。 Now, Arthur has a new boyfriend and an internship, working for one of his favorite director's assistan I finished this book two days ago and I might still be crying。 This was the sweetest book, and such a perfect sequel to What If It's Us。 I didn't think a sequel to that book was needed until I read this book。 I'm going with 4。5 for a rating, because I keep bouncing back between a 4 and a 5 and I can't choose。 Here's to Us is set two years after Ben and Arthur's iconic summer in What If It's Us。 Now, Arthur has a new boyfriend and an internship, working for one of his favorite director's assistant。 Ben is having a thing with a boy from his creative writing classes, and working with his father at a pharmacy。 They both end up in New York for the summer, and can't seem to stop running into each other。 Or thinking about each other。 Reading this book was like catching up with an old friend that you haven't seen in a while。 It was so nice to return to the world of What if It's Us, and to see where the characters were after so long。 I loved Ben and Arthur just as much as I did before, Ben especially。 Some of what he said about being white-passing was very relatable for me。 Arthur was so sweet and awkward, I loved how earnest he was。 Dylan and Samantha were just as lovable as ever, Dylan was so funny and Samantha was a literal saint。 I also really liked the new characters Albertalli and Silvera introduced, Mario and Mikey。 Mikey was a sweetheart, although sort of boring sometimes, and Mario was just such a nice guy。 I also really liked the plot。 It was evenly paced, with good buildup。 It was never slow or boring, and I was always interested in reading what happened next, even though some parts did stress me out a bit。 I think the place where this book really shines is its realism (well, as realistic as a YA contemporary romance can get)。 It has a very realistic portrayal of teenage love and interactions。 In this book, Ben and Arthur are exes, but are still friends and on good terms, which really colored all of their interactions together。 They were sweet and funny and awkward and cringey。 Whenever they talked to each other, it felt real。 I also liked how realistic the romance itself was。 A lot of times, love is portrayed as this certain thing。 Characters know who they love, they're so sure about it。 In Here's to Us, love was confusing and strange。 Ben and Arthur often had to grapple with their feelings and how they didn't really know how they felt, which I loved。 Overall, I loved Here's to Us。 It was an honest and realistic but positive portrayal of teen love, with compelling and funny characters and a great setting。 I love this series, and I can't wait to see if Albertalli and Silvera write anything together again。 。。。more

I am just moved。I didn’t cry in reading it, but the aftermath is hitting really hard right now。What I loved the most about What If It’s Us was how we got to discover this pure, innocent and authentic aspect of falling in love。In Here’s To Us, we got to meet a less dreamy aspect of love, with all its outtakes, its trickiness and pain, which leaves this bittersweet taste when you finish a chapter。Becky and Adam portrayed perfectly so many aspects of love considered as controversial in our society。 I am just moved。I didn’t cry in reading it, but the aftermath is hitting really hard right now。What I loved the most about What If It’s Us was how we got to discover this pure, innocent and authentic aspect of falling in love。In Here’s To Us, we got to meet a less dreamy aspect of love, with all its outtakes, its trickiness and pain, which leaves this bittersweet taste when you finish a chapter。Becky and Adam portrayed perfectly so many aspects of love considered as controversial in our society。There’re so many underrated feelings that we judge invalid or toxic explored here, it was moving to go so down on someone’s feelings…THROUGH A BOOK。Such as in What If It’s Us, “love” in general is so well described。 Everything is so smooth, simple and yet complex, it truly does feel like two real boys dealing with their feelings。I’m glad I got to read “falling in love” through another perspective again even if now I definitely feel a bit empty。Because I just feel like I spent a whole summer trying to figure out what was going on emotionally speaking with me, when actually we’re in February, at the end of winter and plot-twist : I’m not in New-York。 *crying* 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I didn’t like them finding there way back to eachother with their boyfriends in the background。 It just wasn’t the same sweetness as the first book。 The epilogue was cute but I wish there was a bit more。Dylan was so cute with Samantha and he really made this book more fun and was a good distraction from my problems with Ben and Arthur 。 I feel like we should have gotten more of a reason why he hated Patrick than just jealousy。DYLAN AND SAMANTHA NAMED THEIR BABY AFTER HER OMG。 It was so cute baby I didn’t like them finding there way back to eachother with their boyfriends in the background。 It just wasn’t the same sweetness as the first book。 The epilogue was cute but I wish there was a bit more。Dylan was so cute with Samantha and he really made this book more fun and was a good distraction from my problems with Ben and Arthur 。 I feel like we should have gotten more of a reason why he hated Patrick than just jealousy。DYLAN AND SAMANTHA NAMED THEIR BABY AFTER HER OMG。 It was so cute baby sammy was named after his mum because of everything she went through and normally that only happens in stories bc the mum died but it was great to see with a living mum。I definitely feel like they would have had at least one more kid through the epilogues tho。 。。。more

A very slow build。 You really have to be in it for the long run。 But it was so incredibly worth it。 Just as good if not better than the first one。 I loved it so much。

4/5 ★★★★☆“Just because someone says they love you doesn’t mean they’ll never say it to someone else。”Didn't love this one as much as the first one。I'm super glad we got this sequel to tie lose ends but it made me really sad at times。 I felt so bad for Arthur's boyfriend cause I sort of identified with him, like I get breakups are not easy but it seems like he got all the bad that comes from them while all the other characters were thriving, now I kinda need Becky/Adam to write a book about him。N 4/5 ★★★★☆“Just because someone says they love you doesn’t mean they’ll never say it to someone else。”Didn't love this one as much as the first one。I'm super glad we got this sequel to tie lose ends but it made me really sad at times。 I felt so bad for Arthur's boyfriend cause I sort of identified with him, like I get breakups are not easy but it seems like he got all the bad that comes from them while all the other characters were thriving, now I kinda need Becky/Adam to write a book about him。Not a fan of young marriage but to each their own。Dylan was my favorite character but this book I wasn't vibing with him at all。----------------------------------------ESP;Este no me gustó tanto como el primer libro。 Yo era de los raros a los que si les gustó WIIS。Amo que tenemos esta secuela para atar los cabos suelos pero me puso triste en muchas partes。 Me sentí muy mal por el novio de Arthur (me identifiqué un poco xd), se que las rupturas amorosas no son fáciles pero parece que a él le tocó todo lo malo mientras los otros personajes prosperaban y él no era una mala persona (re proyectado jaja)。 No me gusta el tema del matrimonio en personajes jóvenes, tipo, hay más finales felices que eso y estando tan jóvenes aún pueden explorar otras etapas de su relación, pero pues ya es cosa de cada pareja。Dylan era mi favorito pero en este libro no conecté con él y me molestaba un poco la cantidad de veces que hacía algo que incomodaba a Ben。 。。。more

Five emotional stars for this one。 Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera know exactly which buttons to push, and this in this book they push them all。 We got a bi coming out scene that I had to listen to twice (thank you thank you thank you), just the right amount of teenage anxiety, amazing character growth, and I basically cried the entire last 30 minutes of the audiobook。 It may have something to do with me being sick with covid, tired and overly emotional but I don't care。 I hope Albertalli and Five emotional stars for this one。 Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera know exactly which buttons to push, and this in this book they push them all。 We got a bi coming out scene that I had to listen to twice (thank you thank you thank you), just the right amount of teenage anxiety, amazing character growth, and I basically cried the entire last 30 minutes of the audiobook。 It may have something to do with me being sick with covid, tired and overly emotional but I don't care。 I hope Albertalli and Silvera keep writing stuff together, they are a power duo! 。。。more

We could have done without this sequel。 Almost 400 pages for Ben and Arthur to unite。 Clearly, they loved each other but needed a little time。 This could have been done in the previous book itself。 And I feel a bit sad for Mario too。 Disappointed。

Jaya

So much unnecessary drama with both of their boyfriends that was painful to read and just the writing was atrocious。 I was expecting it to be better than book #1 with the gaps in the years they were released but I was very very wrong。 ALSO, not to mention I felt so fucking bad for Mikey and wanted to kill Arthur which I LOVED in the first book。 Overall Disappointed。
